The factory gunsmiths put the buffer in place and drill the hole that way. Of course they could do it in their sleep! Also you need to be sure to use a sharp drill bit and then check for any plastic burr that could slow the firing pin movement. Always replace the fp spring whenever you have the assembly broken down.
